Kia moves up list of automakers after adding a pair of J.D. Power awards

September 12th, 2018 by

Every automaker wants to earn recognition from J.D. Power and Associates. Few actually get to add the actual trophies to their collection. Fewer still can say that multiple vehicles have earned one of the firm’s top honors in the same year. The recently announced J.D. Power awards for the 2018 Kia Rio and 2018 Kia Stinger do nothing if not prove the manufacturer is doing something right. When viewed on an even plane, there might not be two more dissimilar vehicles as the Kia Rio and Kia Stinger. The Rio is a long-time favorite for offering a mix of fuel efficiency and affordability and the Stinger is the highest-performing platform the automaker has ever produced. Let’s see why they earned the J.D. Power and Associates Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout award.

“Earning a J.D. Power APEAL award for both the Rio and Stinger demonstrates the level of dedication we put on delivering a superior combination of the desirable features and attributes today’s savvy car buyers want from their vehicles” Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, KMA, said in a press release.

What is the APEAL award?

The team of evaluators who scored the 2018 models of the Kia Rio and Kia Stinger measured how satisfied owners were with their vehicles after the first 90 days. Owners were surveyed about their impressions across 10 different categories: exterior, interior, storage, audio equipment, seats, heating/ventilation, driving dynamics, powertrain, visibility and fuel economy. Not only have the two vehicles earned themselves recognition, but by having two models score so highly, Kia was able to improve its standing among the top 10 non-premium brands by eight points.

While the Kia Rio is not a new member of the automaker’s lineup available at dealerships like Spitzer Kia Cleveland, it was completely redesigned for the current 2018 model year. The changes made by the Kia design team led the evaluators to give the Rio the highest possible marks in four distinct areas: design, comfort, features and style. As for the all-new Stinger, the high-performance Kia super sedan was able to outscore much more expensive models from automakers based in Europe.

If you would like to see either of these vehicles up close, buyers can schedule a test drive with the 2018 Kia Rio and/or the 2018 Kia Stinger by contacting a Spitzer Kia Cleveland sales professional today.
