2019 Kia Sedona gets subtle revisions ahead of next year’s model
Release date for the 2019 Kia Sedona
In terms of popularity, the minivan has been supplanted by the crossover SUV as the go-to platform for active families. However, that has not stopped Kia from doing the hard work of building one of the best on the market. When the release date for the 2019 Kia Sedona arrives, it will be wearing new facia elements to that accentuate the vehicle’s bold new design. Long trips will cost a little less as well thanks to the new transmission Kia has chosen to add to the 2019 Sedona model. Finally, the automaker has also decided to keep all five trims of the minivan available – giving customers plenty of choice when they look through the Spitzer Kia of Cleveland inventory.
“While the Sedona has continued to redefine and revolutionize the minivan segment with its bold design, advanced convenience features and upscale cabin, a subtle facelift and extended tech roster help keep our most functional multi-purpose vehicle fresh and relevant,” Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, Kia Motors America (KMA), said in a press release. “The enhancements that come as part of the new model year are sure to continue raising the Sedona’s appeal and desirability.”
More efficient Kia Sedona
The most notable change made to the 2019 Kia Sedona is the addition of a very precise eight-speed automatic transmission, which has replaced the six-speed automatic that was used in previous models. Engineers hope the new gear-changer will smooth out acceleration and will make long drives better by having to make fewer stops at the gas station. The 2019 Sedona still uses the naturally aspirated 3.3-liter, V-6 engine with a peak performance output of 276 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque.
Safety is No. 1
As a family vehicle, safety is obviously going to be a top priority for the 2019 Kia Sedona. A full suite of safety systems have been made available to help drivers avoid potentially dangerous situations. These systems use an array of cameras and other sensors to feed information to the forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control and rear cross traffic warnings to help prevent crashes from happening at all. The automaker expects the 2019 Kia Sedona to be named as one of the safest vehicles in its class (when properly equipped) when those ratings come out after the start of the model year.
Kia understands that passengers who are unoccupied can lead to trouble. That’s why the automaker has made a rear seat entertainment system available. Models with this system equipped will have Passengers who will be able to watch media thanks to a pair of 10.1-inch monitors attached to the back of the front seats. Additionally, the 2019 Kia Sedona will also offer premium Harmon Kardon® sound system with eight speakers.
