Lock Button

After parking at the store or returning home in Brookpark, use the Lock button on your Kia key fob to secure your vehicle:

• Pressing the Lock button once will lock all the doors.
• Pressing the Lock button twice within two seconds will enable the alarm system — you’ll hear the horn sound off to confirm the alarm is set.

Unlock Button

Read below to learn how many times to press the Unlock button for you and your passengers to get inside your Kia:

• Pressing the Unlock button once will only unlock the driver’s door.
• Pressing the Unlock button twice within two seconds will unlock all doors, including the trunk.

Trunk/Liftgate Button

Your new Kia will help you maximize cargo space for every journey! Here’s how to use the Trunk/Liftgate button on your Kia key fob to access the cargo area:

• If your vehicle’s liftgate opens manually: Hold down the Trunk/Liftgate button for more than one second to unlock the trunk and open it manually.
• If your vehicle has a power liftgate: Hold down the Trunk/Liftgate button to make the liftgate open automatically. Pressing the button again will halt the liftgate.

Panic Alarm Button

If you can’t find where you parked your Kia or are having an emergency and need to get someone’s attention, use the red Panic Alarm button:

• Hold down the Panic button for a half-second to sound the alarm.
• Press and hold the Panic button again to turn the alarm off.

Hands-Free Lock/Unlock

Some Kia models are equipped with remote keyless entry, a handy feature that allows you to unlock your Kia in Parma without ever taking your key fob out of your pocket! As long as you have your Kia key fob somewhere on you, the door will unlock automatically when you put your thumb on the handle!

What to Do About a Low Kia Key Fob Battery

• Starting the car with a low Kia key fob battery: If your push-button ignition gives you any trouble while your key fob’s battery is low, hold the key fob directly against the push-start button while you press it. This should fire up the engine so you can drive to pick up a new key fob battery! 

• Using the mechanical key: If your key fob is completely dead, use the button on the back of the fob to pop out the emergency mechanical key.

How to Open a Kia Key Fob

Once you’ve obtained the correct battery for your key fob, use the hidden mechanical key to wedge the key fob open. Remove the old battery and put the new battery in the proper position, then close the key fob.
